Driving Financial Empowerment: inDrive Money Launches in Colombia, Supporting Gig Workers with Flexible Financing
inDrive launches its first financial product in Colombia, offering gig economy workers flexible income-based loans through inDrive Money. This new initiative aims to promote financial inclusion and empower drivers to manage their finances more easily.
inDrive, the world’s second most-downloaded mobility app, has taken a bold step toward financial inclusion by introducing its first financial product in Colombia—inDrive Money. Known for its mission to challenge injustice, inDrive is expanding its support for gig economy workers, particularly drivers on its platform, by offering flexible income-based financing.
Through a strategic partnership with Latin American fintech, R2, inDrive Money allows drivers to access loans of up to COP 1,000,000 (roughly USD 240), with repayment terms ranging from 3 to 5 months, tailored to each driver’s activity within the app. The new service is now available in 17 cities across Colombia and builds on a successful launch earlier this year in Mexico.
The beauty of inDrive Money lies in its seamless integration into the inDrive app, making it easy for drivers to apply for and manage their loans without interrupting their daily workflow. Loan repayments are automatically deducted alongside the app’s standard commission, offering a hassle-free experience that allows drivers to focus on earning while managing their finances effectively.
This initiative underscores inDrive’s commitment to financial freedom and equity, offering solutions for gig workers often overlooked by traditional financial institutions. The program is designed to empower drivers to invest in their businesses or improve their overall economic well-being, enabling them to achieve financial stability in a challenging economic environment.
Alina Zavorokhina, Head of Business and Product at inDrive Money, commented on the mutual trust between inDrive and its drivers:
“We know accessing traditional banking on fair terms can be challenging. With inDrive Money, drivers now have a unique opportunity to obtain loans directly through our app, thanks to our partnership with R2. This helps them invest in their businesses and improve their financial well-being.”
Roger Larach, Co-Founder and CEO of R2, added:
“We’re excited to expand our partnership with inDrive to Colombia after a successful launch in Mexico. Our embedded solution within the inDrive platform allows quick and seamless access to capital, which advances financial inclusion. Instead of relying on traditional credit histories, we evaluate drivers based on their activity within the app, rewarding their positive performance.”
As inDrive continues to expand its financial offerings, it’s clear that the company is not just transporting people, but also driving financial empowerment for gig workers in Latin America.
